Objectives
The Master in Social Policy offers a first-class education, on an international level, over four semesters. One hereby receives qualification for positions in all areas of social policy, as, for example, in international organisations, ministries, welfare or citizens’ associations.
Course components include the development of the welfare state and civil society, the discussion of European welfare states, their future under conditions of globalization and international comparisons, detailed views of specific areas and fields of social policy on development and consequences of social policies.
The lecturers are scientists and scholars from sociology, political science, economics, public health and legal science. They are active social science researchers at the university. Thus a close link between research and teaching is guaranteed.
The training covers professional fields of work, reflections on social science, responsible actions and research oriented activities.
This course of study is open for university graduates who have attained an initial professional qualification (such as a BA or Diploma) in social/economic sciences. If the degree is not in these fields, then it should have a relation to social policy. In this case, proven skill in empirical social research is also required. Sufficient knowledge of the German and English languages is required.
